Nicholas started his professional career as a boat builder. He specialised in bespoke projects, building boats and components for clients who wished to have something unique. These projects ranged from constructing light weight composite racing yachts, to components for large super yachts where weight, strength and aesthetics were paramount.

After thirteen years in an ever decreasing industry, Nicholas decided to diversify his skills and knowledge into other areas, and following a desire to produce more non marine products, found himself making bespoke items for large private house renovations that required the benefit of marine products, but an industry that had little experience of using them. Through the benefit of living and working in the New Forest, Nicholas has expanded his skills into producing bespoke furniture that reflects his surroundings. "I have come to appreciate the natural shape that wood takes when left to its own devices and believe that any piece of furniture should derive its form and beauty from allowing the wood to speak for itself, not because it has been manipulated into something false". He is also expanding his furniture design into the contemporary market using the products and knowledge from the composites industry.

He prides himself on trying to produce something that is different and unique, but also loves the challenge of taking on the difficult and often seemingly impossible projects. With the variety of challenges that boats have brought, Nicholas is adept at taking on a wide diversity of projects that may require a range of skills in order to produce what the client ultimately desires.
